Getting started

Quickstart

Run your first backtest in a minute, then learn what to try next.

StrategyTune is a browser-based backtesting platform: the chart replays the market from recorded tick data, and you place trades as if it were live and see what would have happened. No install, no account required to start.

The quickest way to learn StrategyTune: connect your AI — Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client. Your assistant reads the platform's built-in documentation and can answer questions, build scripts, run backtests, and drive the chart for you — on your existing AI subscription, free on our side.

Run your first backtest

  1. Open the app.
  2. Press Play (or hit Space). Replay starts at the default speed of 200×.

The chart already has a security and date range — change them when you're ready.

Five things to try

  1. Place a trade. Use the trade panel to buy or sell. You can attach a take-profit and stop-loss right at order entry. Watch your position appear in the account panel.
  2. Scrub time. Drag anywhere on the timeline to jump around your range — the Timeline page covers jumping in detail.
  3. Change speed. Press a couple of times to step the speed up. The replay accelerates without restarting. Press to slow back down.
  4. Change interval. Press Shift+↑ to move from 15m to 30m. Your replay clock doesn't change.
  5. Add an indicator. Open the Indicators window from the chart header and add one of the built-ins (RSI, MACD, MA).

Where to go next

  • Timeline — jumping, scrubbing, and tracks.
  • Trading & P&L — order types, take-profit, stop-loss, the stats panel.
  • Automated backtesting — the other way to backtest: Strategy scripts run over history on StrategyTune's cloud (this page covered manual replay).
  • Scripts explained — custom indicators, Filters & Signals, and Strategy scripts in the Editor.
  • Plans — backtesting is free for everyone; Pro raises the automated limits.
