Quickstart
Run your first backtest in a minute, then learn what to try next.
StrategyTune is a browser-based backtesting platform: you pick a security, you pick a date, and the chart replays the market tick-by-tick from there. You can place trades as if it were live and see what would have happened. No install, no account required to start.
Run your first backtest
- Open the app.
- Press Play (or hit
Space). Replay starts at the default speed of 200×.
That's the loop. The chart you land on is already loaded with a security and a date range — you can change either when you're ready, but you don't have to to get going.
What to try next
- Change speed. Press
↑a couple of times to step the speed up. The replay accelerates without restarting. Press↓to slow back down. - Change interval. Press
Shift+↑to move from 15m to 30m. The chart redraws at the new granularity; your replay clock doesn't change. - Place a trade. Use the trade panel to buy or sell. You can attach a take-profit and stop-loss right at order entry. Watch your position appear in the account panel.
- Scrub time. Drag the timeline thumb to jump anywhere in your range. The engine pauses, jumps, and resumes when you let go.
- Add an indicator. Open the indicator picker and add one of the built-ins (RSI, MACD, MA). Custom indicators live in the same picker.
Backtesting itself is free for everyone, with or without an account. Saving sessions, AI indicator generation, and a few other things require sign-in or a paid plan — see Plans for the breakdown.
