Sign-in & sync
What works without an account, what sign-in unlocks, and what stays device-local on purpose.
StrategyTune is built so the most useful thing — running a backtest — works without an account. Signing in adds the persistent layer: saved sessions, your custom indicator library, automated backtests, and your connected AI. This page covers what changes when you do.
Anonymous use
You can do all of this without an account:
- Open any chart, pick any security and date range, run the replay.
- Place trades during replay; see live P&L and trade statistics.
- Add built-in indicators to the chart.
Everything else — saving sessions, custom indicators, automated backtests, connected AI — needs an account. It's free.
What sign-in unlocks
All of this is free — no plan needed:
- Saved sessions. Snapshot a backtest and resume later, on any device. See Saved sessions.
- Custom indicators. Write your own indicators in code; they're stored on your account. Open the app on another device, sign in, your library is there.
- Connected AI. Link your own AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client) to your account and drive StrategyTune from it. See Connect your AI.
- Automated backtests. Strategy scripts and Filters & Signals run on our servers; the Pro plan raises the compute limits. See Automated backtesting and Plans.
- Subscription management. Plan and payment settings, right in the app.
What doesn't sync
A couple of things deliberately stay device-local:
- Chart layout and drawings. Trendlines, fibs, custom annotations on the chart, and the chart's visual configuration aren't part of the saved-session format.
- Which indicators are currently on the chart. Your custom indicators sync; the set you've added to the chart for a given session is part of the chart layout, not the session.
Signing in
Click the sign-in button at the bottom of the icon rail on the right side of the app. You can sign in with email or the sign-in options shown in the dialog.
Sign-in is remembered in this browser — signing in on one machine doesn't sign you in on another. Sign out from the avatar menu when you're done on a shared device.
Privacy & data
- Anonymous use stores no account data; the app collects product analytics (see the privacy policy).
- Signed-in use stores your sessions, scripts, run history, and billing state — the privacy policy has the full list.
- Delete your content any time from inside the app. To delete your account, open the user menu → Manage account → Security → Delete account.
